PM will offer Anjali to Maa Durga this Ashtami in Kolkata, receives multiple invitations
A fire broke out at a private nursing home in Hakim Para, Siliguri, on Thursday night. Multiple fire engines rushed to the scene to bring the blaze under control. The fire is suspected to have originated from a short circuit within the facility. According to fire officials, the initial point of the blaze was the Dialysis Unit.
Tragically, the death of one patient admitted to the ICU was reported following the incident. However, there is still uncertainty and confusion among the authorities as to whether the patient's death was directly caused by the fire or by other underlying factors. An investigation is underway to determine the precise cause of death.
Eyewitnesses, including local residents and relatives of the patients, stated that they noticed black smoke billowing out of various rooms in the hospital late on Thursday night. Showing immense presence of mind, they immediately began evacuating patients from the wards and moved them to a safe distance outside the hospital campus without waiting for the staff.
Fire Officer Apurva Kumar Das confirmed that while the hospital possessed adequate fire safety equipment, there was a noticeable lack of trained personnel to effectively operate the system.
